There can be many causes for the development of dizziness and vertigo: whiplash, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular injury, concussion and referral from the neck to name the most common. A detailed assessment of the neck, as well as tests of the visual system, vestibular system, balance and gait can help determine the source of your symptoms and inform your clinician of which treatments are most appropriate to help you recover. Research suggests the use of individualized vestibular physiotherapy treatments is effective to improve performance of vestibular, ocular and motor control functions in concussed clients.
